Memory in the printer
Today the majority of the HP LaserJets support the use of Flash memory modules as well as harddisks, which means that there are numerous possibilities of taking advantage of the functionality of the laser
printer.
All the memory modules have the advantage that the e-forms or fonts or similar
resources, stored on the device, are always available when the printer is turned on.
Resources stored in the printer RAM have to be downloaded again every time the printer
has been turned off. However, by using these devices you save time, you increase your print
speed, and you ensure the same high print quality.
The memory modules are installed in the printer's expansion slots; today these modules are
either SIMM, DIMM, or Memory Flash Card, and the format is either EuroForm
Flash or HP FSA.
Harddisks are installed internally in the printer - i.e. on the HP
LaserJets they are specifically installed in the EIO expansion slots of the printer.
When you print a configuration page, you will be able to see if either the memory module or the harddisk is installed and whether the printer has contact with the device.
